Amazing Opportunity for a

General Manager

at the Jolly Postie, Royston

An amazing opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Manager to join us to run the Jolly Postie in Royston.

A little bit about the pub…..
The Postie, as it’s affectionately known, sits in the most prominent building in Royston.  A new acquisition to the McMullen estate, opened in 2015 with an amazing design including a vintage post van that you can dine in (!!), an open kitchen, wood fired pizza oven, open fire, and oh yes, and a flying postman!

There are 106 dining covers inside, added to the 80 covers outside in the enclosed sun-trap urban terrace.

Food accounts for 66% of the sales, and while there is clearly more scope to drive the food business, wet sales are a huge opportunity, given its High St location, cocktail menu and superbly kept real ales.

……and a bit about the guests….
As with all Chicken & Grill Pubs, there’s something for everyone. During school holidays it’s jam packed, kids absolutely love it.  And if the kids are happy, mum and dad are happy too!!  You’ll find office workers during mid-week lunch times and afternoons, families & couples dining in the evenings and weekends, tradesmen enjoying a hard-earned after work pint, retired folk enjoying a catch up.

Financial Information
The Postie opened in April 2015 with a bang, this still young business is yet to be properly established in the town.

Management Profile
Driven, guest focussed, confident. You’ll need to understand people (team and guests) and their needs. Our pubs are driven by personalities, you’ll need the personality to stand out and become popular with the locals. A creative streak and eye for detail are important so that the Jolly Postie continues to stand out visually against the competition. Financial acumen along with good understanding of all associated legislation is paramount, obviously!

Management Accommodation
There is a recently decorated and appointed two bedroom flat above the pub. Manager’s private and secure parking also on site, a real benefit for a town centre location.

Salary & Benefits

£27 - £45k depending on experience, bonus scheme, reward and recognition, company pension scheme, life assurance, continual opportunity for personal development and progression.
